They are great for advertisers and marketers because they allow users to obtain product information and website addresses by scanning the multidimensional bar code with their smartphone's camera. Unfortunately hackers and criminals are also using QR codes to trick users into installing malware, or handing over personal information.

Bryan Sullins, who blogs about Microsoft certification for Network World, recently wrote about virtualization, and some of the skills needed to obtain various certifications in this area.

Sullins lists seven areas of concentration; it's a good starting-point list, covering the key concepts that separate virtualization from the world of physical IT. He also said this, which I really like:

What I have found when it comes Virtualization in general, is that it is more about shattering your preconceived notions about physical environments, rather than your ignorance of virtualization.

Virutalization is complicated, because it adds another layer of complexity to your environment; but one of the real challenges is learning to think differently.

Each year, the nation's largest geekfest, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), is full of hype, overhype, and beyond the valley of the hype. Remember the Internet Refrigerator?

And each year the hype (and overhype, and b.t.v.o.t. hype) inevitably leads to disappointment: Vendors dangle many alluring prototypes and product rumors in front of the assembled tech journalists and geeks during the week in Las Vegas, but many of the products never appear or arrive far later than scheduled and in a competely different format. Evidently, much of what is dangled in Vegas stays in Vegas.
